"Chess.com Greeter I am willing to play unrated welcome games against new Chess.com members. I will help them understand how to play on Chess.com and answer questions."

I recently signed up for a gold membership with chess.com and ticked the above.   Now I am constantly being put on vacation because apparently the above 'auto accepts' challenges from greeters.... but I never play 24 hour games in email chess.

I am happy to play new members but not if it means being put on 'vacation' because the site automatically accepts 24 hr move games on my behalf.

No thankyou chess.com - newbs will have to wait in line for me to accept their challenges like the rest of the club.

Greeter games are unrated three day games with this name "Welcome to Chess.com!".

Then why the constant vacations?  I log in every day... and since signing up for greeter games... am constantly put on vacation.  It's a bug.  Anyone else playing greeters getting put on vacation all the time?

I'm a new member and have started four games with "Greeters"  They've all been aborted, even though I check regularly to see if there has a been a move after my opening.  Not sure what the problem is.

I applyed to play greeter games again.  Another problem: 'Online Chess' is not registering my moves... I shouldn't have to repeat moves 2 or more times.  What is happen?  May have to play 'live chess' -  Online Chess is too buggy.

I played against a greeter as my first game on here, and what a disapointment.    The greeter seldom made moves even when online, and finally timed out.  OK so it was a win to me, and I felt that I had the advantage, but it is a very unsatisfying way to win.  Now, having read this thread, i can forgive the greater for timing out as it appears to be a bug with the greeter system.

Maybe a couple of live games with a greeter, and with some chat, would be a better system.

I recently applied to be a greeter but I am finding that new players are on line and not taking there moves.  I am winning games that have had no moves made or after only a few moves.  I am new to chess enjoy this site but like others are finding it frustrating that games are not finishing.

I cannot commit to a live game but like the system of being able to have a few days to make a move.  So if you are not on vacation why can't these people who want to play take their moves.

Is it possible to flag on a game before it starts. Don't waste my time doing 1 move and thats it game over after 3 days.  Or can we black list these people?  On greeter.

I was grateful when I started on this site to play against greeters but it is very frustrating that a game is won after only 1 move each.

This is the nature of greeter games. If it is decreasing your enjoyment of the site you should stop being a greeter.

A large number of people sign up for non-chess reasons. Possibly for the email address, possibly to continue their quest to reserve their username on every site on the internet, ....

Chess.com has fixed this problem.
