This position is taken from a match between Hou Yifan (15) and Humpy Koneru (21) in the Women's Grand Prix in Istanbul earlier this year.

Black has just played Qa7 - giving the dual threat of Qxb8 and Kxg6 - apparently winning the game comfortably.

White has a shocking reply that forces victory - what is it?

[It's difficult - it took me a whole 25 minute tube journey to work it out]

It's difficult isn't it.

I tried Rg8+ first, then Qg3 (for the discovery next move) before I found the way through.

I guess the best chess players keep an out for when they can force pieces into squares where they want them.  I still don't think of this at all during games.

If this was a game, there's no way I'd have seen it. Seeing quiet moves like this is a difficult skill to master
