Very difficult mate in 2
Great puzzle. I timed myself and used 18 minutes and 8 seconds total.
The first three I spent identifying mating patterns and identifying how white would win if it were black's move. The next 5 were spent identifying why all waiting moves didn't work (all the moves like Kb8 and Qh8 were thwarted by the move ...e5, effectively unpinning the rook). The 2 minutes following that, I found the winning move (Bc6) along with the winning idea: "If I can get my bishop to b6 in response to ...e5 without the rook being able to take it, it will be mate". The final 8 minutes was just me combining the mating patterns I saw previously, ensuring all possibilities, all 15 of them (consisting of 7 patterns), lead to mate. Maybe slow to others, but got it first try!
smartykids ummmmm isn't it just any rook move on the 2nd rank (excluding g2 and h2)? Ra2,b2,c2,d2, and e2 all lead to Rf3 mate.
Bc6 is the solution
