This is in Puzzles but it seems more about a regular game (?). I may be misunderstanding.

Anyway, I keep being told, when asking questions such as this ... "It depends." It would help to see the entire board before saying which we'd do. Even at my level, I don't think I've ever quit immediately - I've always kept trying for a bit, while sobbing uncontrollably to myself.

Lose a pawn? Keep going for sure although I'm beginning to realize pawns are far more valuable than I ever thought! Great question!
