So weird

It was recalibrated, because it was considered overblown. Your relative position among chess.com users remained the same, as it happened to all players. I personally don't like the changes to puzzles lately.

I think the new puzzle rating is still a bit inflated. I am probably a 1500-1600 player (haven't played over the board in a long time but I suspect that's where I would be given chess.com blitz versus USCF rating translations) but my puzzle rating shows 1950. Not a big deal as long as it's a consistent spread / percentile.

Puzzle rating should be higher than game ratings; it's expected. If someone was pointing out when tactics existed in a game, you would expect your rating to get higher.

That was discussed in the last State of Chess.com broadcast.

This new system is terrible! I hate that my rating went down. They need to change it back!

I was stunned ... and upset ... also. But I've been working on it an brought it back up about 100 points.

Yeah, that's how almost everyone feels. I don't know why they thought it was a good idea to change it, but it wasn't.

I like the new puzzles better. Reason being that they are not so obvious that I can spot them in seconds, but not so difficult that I have to spend 10 minutes or more trying to solve, which was the case prior to the change.

In other words, a reasonable solve time that one may actually have to spot a tactic in a rapid game.

Puzzles are a training tool for me, and I really don't care what my "rating" is, thats just a meaningless figure.

This is why chess.com should put the ratings back to the way it was because the people who do puzzles to improve their rating want a higher rating system, and people who do puzzles to improve thier chess just don't care about ratings.

I've been active in a lot of the topics around the change and it's actually pretty even between those that are upset and those that like it or thought the change was long overdue.

I think it's because puzzle ratings inflate off of lower rated puzzles. Mine dropped from 2600 to 1800. Dont worry about it
