It is of the logic of saying 2=4 ? No it is not. I'm saying .999... and 1 are one and the same just different ways of representing the same quantity. It might be counter intuitive to think that .999... = 1 but that's why mathematics exists. Through math I just proved it . You can trust math more than your intuition.

99 does not equal 100

999 does not equal 1000

0.9 is not 1

0.99 is not 1

0.999 is still not 1 no matter how many 9's are after the 0.

0.999... (repeating) doesn't mean "a whole lotta nines." Or even billions and billions of nines.
It means an infinite number of nines. There's literally no end to it.
The infinite sequence can't be demonstrated to "come up short" of 1.0 because there's always more 9s to be considered.

I'm okay with 0.999... being equal to 1.0.

Because 0.66666 is not exactly 2/3, anymore than 0.33333 is 1/3, or 0.99999 is exactly 1!

Yes, but the difference that we're debating isn't a decimal point, ten zeroes and a one. It's a decimal point, an infinite number of zeroes, and a one after that, something that you can never reach to deal with.

Guys y are u still arguing over this ? There is literal proof in math that shows that .999 repeating is equal to 1. There is a better way to comprehend this : 1 is the fractional representation of the decimal form .999 repeating. Both represent the same quantity. Just like 1/2 is the fractional representation of 0.5 Also if u want proof it is already given at #38. ur proof was wrong as u assumed 'n' to be a whole number when u correct that , then that will also show that .999 repeating is 1. So there is no need for argument.
