I agree with you that Anand will win it. Remember historians say that Africa was 'the cradle of life'
About the chess-groups, a question?
Well, the chess - or to be more precise: a game closely resembling the chess - might even have originated in the ancient Persia. But this was not scientifically proven yet.
Before you event start reflecting about the possibility of boldly jump in this thread - this aquarium, this living containment with its yet unknown forms of life - then better first ask yourselves: "can I realy swimm...and real fast?!" - and there is a lot of water in this thread, as illustrated by the earlier postings. Or are you just the types that 'first jump in and then go wondering what 'faith' might possibly have cooked up for you? So, can you realy swimm, can you???
...I like metaphors and pictures, so....
...that nice little dive, might possibly prove to be a little bit 'too adventurous'...I assume?
Anand received also a piece of art, realy quite beautiful, this:
But, though, would it not be even far more beautiful if the crown was shielded by a crystal globe i.s.o. a 'cold' cube? And the globe representing Earth, showing the continents and the squares of chess boards!? Just my opinion on a feeling bases, was my very first impression of it. A cube I associate somehow with technique and cold calculation only whereas the globe I associate with intuition, in addition. And intuition is an important part of the chess (call it subconscious thinking). For example: one sometimes knows in the blinck of an eye that some move is for a 100% sure the best one to make, no doubt at all...but the exact calculations still have to be made...and the calculation much later convincingly proving that the move based on ones feeling/intuition solely was indeed the best one to make. So, I go for the globe.
Just some thoughts
Yes, I would also favour a globe as described by you. And the globe being gracefully hold up by the figures of both a man an a woman. Such a globe would for sure 'radiate' even more powerful the beautiful essence of the ancient chess.
But then again, one could also decide not to give it any pedestal at all: just hang it on the ceiling and then when it would spin a little bit from time to time caused by some slight airflows, then the soft rays of the lightly coloured chrystal sphere would catch the eye. I am just brainstorming here, there was realy never an artist in my genes. I am just letting my true thoughts and feeling freely speak
Must say, those are real good creative and artistic refelections there Shaka, both by you and Aengus (...that self-styled ice-cube minded Irish), must agree, yes
That you state Shaka and especially #51 does make me assume that those thouhts, contemplations were actually generated by the creative and artistic mind of a woman (a relative possibly?). So, Shaka, tell me now honostly, am I right
..ok I admit, it was actualy Banka (the oldest one of my 3 wifes) that came up with those thoughts, I merely put it down in some writings. She is quite smart and seems to like chess a lot.
She even once beated me in a game(?????!) and I do not much like such developments. Such in the long run could even slightly begin undermining my still undisputed authority within the family (Darwin stuff we talked about). I told the others that I let her win that gameand since then try to avoid playing chess with her. I have to prevent them going talking behind me back, you know...
I like the comfort of the present status quo in my life much, so I want to keep it that way, you will understand that
oh yes, I of course fully understand you and I agree with you (...last thing we could use at these times we live in would be some next revolt beginning in Africa and soon spreading out through all other parts of the globe)
such would begin with this:
...as a methaphor..
.and next us men would end up washing dishes and ironing clothes with dangling curlers in our hair (..I think I need a drink now and real fast)
hell...to think of it..they could even make us wear dresses????? you just think of that????
I am away for now since I am much allergic to negative thoughts/energy, bey for now, Nick
Tie break Anand-Geland today(!) Any predicted outcomes will be just an exchange of subjective opinions and views based on each persons (i.e us, viewers) own history and preferences regarding the ancient game of chess. I myself favour Anand. As from my early youth I regarded the chess representing sports, ARTS(! like that the most, but that is personal preference) and science: reviewed many games through the years of Anand (and also some of Gelfand) and comparing those players I tend to think that Anand is the 'more natural gifted player' (though also Gelfand is great, of course, not to forget)...but Anand allways played more 'natural', gracefull, artistic (thus 'a very high level of 'feeling' the positions in also a highly developed sub-conscious way, the essence of creating arts). Anand was allways a great gifted player and during the years I saw his strenght and the beauty of his games only grow. Compare it with the following (my opinion): if both Anand and Gelfand would have been highly talented and gifted painters, then imagine both of them making a painting of the very same landscape, then, admiring the both paintings I would most likely assess the painting by the hand of Anand as 'different', in a positive way, something 'extra' in his painting compared to the one made by Gelfand (though the painting by the hand of Gelfand in a cold 'scientific' way correct according technical analyses). But if you would ask me what 'extra' then I would not be able to answer and explain it, has more to do with 'it just feels that way I experience it that way', there is something extra/more in it' but I would not be able to pinpoint 'what' in an exact manner.
So, in my opinion Anand will win the tie break. But such only represents my personal and of course subjective opinion/view (and maybe preferences). Interesting, I am going to watch it life, love such!
