About the chess-groups, a question?

She claims to have been some retired head-nurse, having worked in some institute  for "the mental severely ill' in London

Gaudium

And such persons usually are not proponents of endless long discussions, they just act instantly (...might even result in you 2 being blocked?Smile)...she might be thinking 'just when i thought i was out that mental institute THEY DRAG ME BACK IN' (Al Pacino also said something like that in GF III as i recall)...maybe you better delete some of your comments so she cannot read them?Smile

RichColorado

Here is a group for old Geezers. I am 74. I belong to this one and there are some older than me.

Come and join us. Our leader is Scut Fargus.

Tell them Denver sent you. They will even have a party for you, with pole dancing girls.

yr #63 mr ice-cube???? plse don't be so negative & pessimistic all the time, cheer upSmile you seem to fear ghosts hidden in every closet (typical irish, if you as me) and 'the dark unknown looming and luring for you behind ever closed door?? cheer up (...and don't keep watching the skies whole days for any dark clouds that might come yr way, would be wishfull thinkin, some placebo effect you triger on yrself, that way ya attract 'the dark side' as being some enormeous magnet for it, if you ask meSmileso cheer up

sumerias

sumerias

Aengus, you being so negative/pessimistic all the time...so, makes me wondering: "how can you possibly ever in life win some games of chess (..or being succesful in anything else for that matter)...since mentally you would be beaten already 'before the first moves have been made'..just some thought, CHEERS!

sumerias

Hey Shaka readin his: seems mr Denver #64 is realy charmed by Madam Truus. Thinkin that her flower-hats might have the trick?!? you think?

Wawindaji

Hi Nick, agree, that Tribal Song sounds real ok, indeed. And about Madam Truus, I think it is the electroshock-therapies she performs (...more precise: experiments with!Smile), that maybe being the 'appealing part for Mr. Denverhigh??!Laughing

Gaudium

Ok, maybe at some times I sound somewhat pessimisic and depressive, that being my natureSmile, but what do you both think of this:

Mentioning the word 'Hello' in the early stage of a Blitz-game that takes 5 seconds (placing the cursor, typing it and enter), but, those 5 'missing' seconds could - depending on the kind of position at hand, of course - cost one the game in the very end! And do not even at any time consider trying to welcome your opponent by chatting:"have a nice game", "succes wished" or "enjoyment" costing even more seconds (and in addition your opponent may experience those words as slightly hypocritical, since your opponent might ask himself: "succes and enjoyable, but for whom???)

I do certainly not want to sound cynical and/or sarcastically here, but it seems to me that 'trying to be nice to your opponent by kindly greeting him during the very first stage of the blitz-game can easily cause your defeat?! So, being nice may be punished?!?Undecided

Wawindaji

sorry Aengus, but this is too much, even ridiculous and unbalanced: counting the number of seconds you need 'to put a hello' in some chat-box??????Undecided i do not even know whether to smile or to be amazed by yr 'different' views of life. Don't you have anything more interesting to do then counting seconds for all kinds of activities you have? Yes, you mentioned you are single, but then go to a pub or so, talk to people, play some darts, talk soccer football European Championships starting soonSmile, countless possibilies?

Wawindaji

he way i know Nick, when he comes online and sees your last comment, well, he will realy ridiculize you. As for me, i give you a somewhat less sharp reply, thus:

me playing Blitz-games i allways say 'hello' to my opponents in the first stage of the game. and when the game is ended i allways reply with 'well done' (when I lost, does not matter about the contents of the game) and when won i say nothing

...counting seconds???? ridiculous, i take it you do not smoke while playing, or drink, or talk with people in yr surroundings, or listen music while playing, well, yr choice, certainly not mine, Mgollo

Wawindaji

Aengus, maybe an advice: why don't you read some other threads such as 'Internet Friends/relationships or 'Poem'(!) Both good threads, i also read them from time to time and even far more interesting for youSmile( im mean, you being you and all, better for you) just an advice (but i mean only read those threads, do not post any comments there!!, since you are 'not very compatibel to others' and you would be an outcast as soon as you would place 1x comment, so do not comment there, just advice (only read)

Wawindaji

...or you could even challenge 'Chrisr2012' (just a random example, even an Irish person!) for some online game or so. seems to be a nice person and a good player (you could learn something thereSmile) my advice better avoid me and Nick, since we differ too much from you. have fun and rgds, Mgollo (enjoy the weekend) wish you well, bye

sumerias

...think you said it all Shaka,  maybe this song for Aengus:

'Sad Song very sorrow - Arabic Music'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_KTIllP0vk

now he better takes 'a walkabout' as the aussies saySmile(...and don't call us, we call you...)

sumerias

and about blitz chess Shaka, well, i myself also allways say 'hi' and somethings as 'well played'. there is a benefit saying 'hi' since when the other does  not reply it then you know you are a playing some fanatic that seems fully is focussed on winning ...and if so..i often have some comments wjile playing for irritating such opponents by chatting '????????????????????' when he foloows a dubious plan ormakes a lesser move...then you see them taking time(irritated, of courseLaughing) and when yhey come back with some 'good move' then I give thyem another '????????????????????????'hahaha well, just like you i like the fun (and also drink and so ect. while playing, to keep it fun). Often I see some weakining their white or black squares by some exchanges, me giving the short message then 'what about yr white squares now?, opening the door now???'

...but the coin is 2 sided, some go play better when I irritate them in a funny waySmile

Truus_G

Hello again, you nice people, my grandson Henk already informed you that our houseboat sunk a week ago, but we (me, my sister Bep, Saskia and Hector) are doing fine and our good neighbour Gerard van Stockum provided us real comfortable accommodation in his home. Our houseboat is afloat again but the repair works inside will take some extra 10 days. I might add that we have a very good insurance policy, so we are doing real fine.

And about the disaster that occurred, well, I spare you the details but I can tell you it was a terrifying experience: Saskia (my talking Ara) saving us by screaming 'water, water, water' all in time. Me and my younger sister Bep sharing a sleeping room down below felt and saw the water pooring in, faster and faster. And then the electricity went down, to think of that, my goodness! All kind of images flashing in my mind: drowing, Titanic, Mayan Prophecy, Japanese Tsunami, Book of Revelations, so horrible it was as an experience. Then the door went open, and there was my 78 year old neighbour Gerard van Stockum, a real gentleman, standing there with his long waving white hair and pointing a flashlight at us he spoke the words: "Ladies, I am here to save you", my knight. And at that moment I felt myself as being Vivien Leigh being saved by Clark Gable (as in the movie Gone with the wind, seen it over a 100 times with my sister Bep) and while many other kind people assisted saving almost all our inventory, Gerard brought us to his home, poored Brandy for us and placed us in front of a big fireplace. He himself went out again to help the others.

So, we are fine, and the only precious possession still missing are 5 of my dear perfumed letters to Viktor (the other 367 letter were all saved) and I instructed my sister Bep to try finding them in the Canal whatever the costs, using some little rowing boat and she already retreived one of them (but it does not contain any of my perfume anymore).

I will be back in 10 days since I still have to mentally recover from that terrible disaster. Did I mention that Gerard proves to be real excellent preparing Italian dishes...)

Till later and warm regards to you all.

TRUUS

Gaudium

Good to hear Madam Truus is ok.

But you, Sumerias, posting this??:

now he better takes 'a walkabout' as the aussies saySmile(...and don't call us, we call you...)

Gaudium

Did you know Sumerias that 'optimism' created your 'housing-bubble' and the financial global recession all over the world? Ohh, pardon me, but please 'allow' me to keep my sound quantum of 'pessimism?!Surprised And I do not realy think you are from the US? Why?..you would you ask? Because of your 'perfect' (???) grammar and 'perfect'(???) orthography, as proven by your great entry 76Smile....countless errors in it...

Shall I present to you this picture:

showing 'too much optimism'...flying too high..well, you know the ending of that story

Rest my case

sumerias

...there we go again...best part of your comment is you mentioning "rest my case" and normally that means 'final and very last words spoken by you' but, one may not expect to get so lucky whereas it concerns you: I bet you go watching the skies again searching for those dark clouds coming your way, subsequently getting even more depressed and then deciding to 'sparkle your next ray of sunlight' upon his thread.Normally some person getting depressed goes quarreling with his spouse, but, again, not in your case since you stated your preference for living solitair, so, you go posting again (how could we ever get so lucky...) maybe you should 'participate' some social activities, some human-interaction in that Irish village of yours, maybe like this?

or even this?

That would enable you for sure to get rid of that existing surplus of (negative) energy you seem to possess?!

I take your word for it, whereas the Icarus sory is concerned, since you are the one watching he skies whole days, so, you must have seen i all happening, live(!)

As to the bad grammar I use (sometimes, I do not check allways, lazy): I take it that you prefer to be ridiculed by comments consisting of perfect grammar and perfect orthography only?!?...what is the difference, since the result stays exactly the sameSmileso, that one I do not understand at all (but I beg you, now please do not attempt explaining that to me.."rest my case"...rememberSmile Did you challenge Chrisr2012 already for some unrated game, as suggested by Shaka? ..we both much encourage you diversifying your activities and energy, so to speak (...in plain English: that would give us a break here!Smile)

...take a good drink and please forget that I even exist....can you do that for me?

Wawindaji
