Achievements: what are they for?

A feature that i find confusing is achievements. A reason is that i question what are they for day and night. You may think that chess.com wanted people to be hooked and people to try to collect some if not all of them but I think the reason is much deeper. If you know please answer this question.

...there is no deeper reason behind achievements. They're legit just digital stickers so that your brain feels a sense of accomplishment and well, keeps people hooked so they go ahead and play new games instead of closing the tab. It's not that deep and certainly isn't worth all the pondering, also I dont think Off Topic is the best category for this question but ok.
