Axis and Allies for Chess Players?

The Axis and Allies games were board games published by Avalon Hill. They have similar rulesets, but some have modified pieces, different maps, and victory conditions. I used to play them a lot with friends, and I still sometimes play them against the computer on a free program called Triple A.
A similar, but even more complex multiplayer 4x strategy board game set in space is Twilight Imperium. A game of TI can draw out for 8+ hours. It’s very hard to find a group in person, but I’ve played it on TableTop Simulator using a speaker and Discord.
Complex strategy board games might appeal to chess players.
Are there any chess players out there that enjoy Avalon Hill's Axis and allies series?
I briefly mentioned it in my 'What games do chess players enjoy' topic.
