Ah thank-goodness for YouTube ! Just came across a clip of Diane Bish and Simon Preston playing the Toccata from Symphony No 5 ( for 2 Organists ) by Charles Widor. There was a standing ovation at the end, well deserved.
Bach, Beethoven, Etc Etc ( Part II )
--- I believe the song that we need at this time in regards to this site would be " Send In The Clowns ! ". There is a very nice version of this song up on YouTube performed by Judy Collins with the Boston Pops Orchestra ( recorded in 1976 ).
Getting back to Diane Bish she used to have her own show on Cable TV as she was very good at playing the Pipe-Organ ( clips are available on YouTube ).
--- Yes " The Planets " by Gustav Holst is very nice. I guess like most people the section that I remember the best is " 4 / Jupiter ".
Time for a birthday reminder, back in 1863 ( Aug 22cnd ) the one and only Claude Debussy was born ( Reverie anyone ? ).
So we all know the usual suspects ( Johann, Joseph, Wolfgang, Ludwig etc etc ) however it is also fun to track down pieces written by lesser known Composers. Earlier today I came across a beautiful Piano Concerto by Nicolai Medtner, very very nice ( his 1st Concerto ).
Well we have just now crossed over into Dec 11th local time so I will mention Hector Berlioz ( 1803 ).
And we come to the last Birthday for this year and we have a big name going back to the year 1770, yup the one and only Ludwig Van Beethoven.
The William Tell Overture was mentioned in another thread recently ( ie: The Gallop, theme for the Lone Ranger TV series ). That brought to mind another couple of lively pieces: the Light Cavalry Overture ( by Franz Von Suppe ) and the Sabre Dance ( by Aran Khachaturian ), keep that Baton moving lol.

--- Yup still lol.
More troll problems so I will restart another thread here.
