The first book that I remember reading in the English language was " Treasure Island " and it was very good ( I was about 10 yrs old ). I'm in my mid-60's now and most of my reading over the years has been in the area of History however as I've gotten older I seem to be reading a lot less ( too much internet fun now lol ).
Thanks badenwurtca! I have read somewhere that Stevenson only started writing after he was retired from his profession as a doctor and he started to make up stories for his stepson during that period and that that's how he got the idea of writing all his books , which I find interesting! :)
sirrichardburton,
Thanks for sharing your favourite books and thoughts. 'The Devil Drives' seems interesting I'll consider reading it if I get a chance. And yes, I do also have the habit of buying a lot of books and taking as long as an year to finish them. I recently bought 'Les Miserables' by Victor Hugo, 'A Brief History of Time' by Stephen Hawking, 'The Monk Who Sold His Ferari' by Robin S. Sharma, and 'The Power of Your Subconcious Mind' by Dr.J Murphy, all these books I'm able to read only after finishing '1984', I have also read 'Macbeth' and I liked it, I have also heard about ' The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich' on goodreads community.
