You’re being self deprecating. The points you made are all valid and interesting.
If the sound was perceived to change after hearing it numerous time, that would be more likely to be a verbal transformation. But that doesn’t account for the sound first heard.
The “Green Needle” phrase was surprising. That’s whet I heard. Brainstorm doesn’t even have the same number of syllables so it’s hard to figure ho anyone would hear that. Which phrase did you hear?
That's what makes the phenomenon so mind boggling to me. I can hear both words/phrases when I try too. (Though I can only hear one at a time. I seem to be able to change which word I hear with my mind somehow (same as with yanny/yammy and laurel); it's rlly hard to explain. When I'm already in the "mood" to hear one it seems impossible to hear the other".
I also wasn't really able to state that the sounds were a clear word before seeing the word choices given to me on the screen.
