Actually my original pfp did have his face and his medals were rice balls - it was definitely not meant to glorify him, that should have been clear but then after some backlash I replaced the face instead.
I wonder what other commonalities would offend some? Two eyes, maybe?

What software do you use for photo editing? I tried using Gimp without reading any docs, and I was like a monkey studying a watch...

Probably the photo3d app that came with windows. That allowed object detection and cutting/pasting of irregular shapes. Such is my face. Even the site thinks it's irregular and improper.
