Cats are better than dogs - also put this in off topic
Cat
Consider my counter-argument though: dogs.
Considered. Cats are better from all aspects.
1. Cats live longer. While dogs live 10-13 years on average, the average cat lives 13-20 years. The oldest cat lived to nearly 40!
2. Cats are less likely to run away. Cats are incredibly loyal (more so than dogs) and will stay by their owners, unlike dogs, who immediately like anyone who pets them. Even if a cat gets lost, there have been instances of families moving and their cats traveling hundreds (over 800!) miles to find their owners.
3. Cats promote intelligence and health. Studies show that interacting with cats releases oxytocin, a neurotransmitter which has anti-stress properties. Additionally, cat ownership has been shown to lower blood pressure, increase cardiovascular health, improve mood, and lower cortisol levels.
4. Cats can hear at frequencies nearing 65,000 Hz, as opposed to dogs' 45,000 hz, making them incredibly effective in pest control around your house.
5. Cats don't need walking. They sleep for up to 19 hours, but will gladly play if awoken.
6. Cats are very clean. While dogs need frequent baths and wipedowns, cats lick away dirt and grime.
7. Cats are cheaper than dogs. Cats eat less than dogs and require less cleaning. They even release less carbon than dogs.

1. Granted.
2. At best, erroneous. Not only have there been countless stories of dogs doing the same thing, but the general assertion that "dogs immediately like anyone who pets them" sounds like it comes from someone who has never interacted with a well-trained, family-oriented guard dog. In what way are cats more loyal than dogs?
3. Studies show dogs to do all the same things.
4. They can hear higher frequencies... so they're better? Cats have up to 200 million olfactory receptors, while dogs have up to 300 million. Dogs have been trained to sniff bombs. Dogs have been trained to sniff drugs. Dogs have been trained to sniff out stinking (no pun intended) Parkinson's disease.
5. Yes, but the fact that dogs need walking is good for many people, for whom owning a dog is an impetus to get more exercise (and for those who don't want to/don't need to, there are plenty of dog breeds that can take care of themselves in this regard).
6. Granted.
7. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

1. It doesn't matter if cats live longer than dogs; by living longer, they use more food, so they're not cheaper than dogs.
Dogs are very loyal to their owners! They are protective and scare away strangers who enter your home. There have been cases of dogs traveling far and wide just to find their owners!
2. Dogs are great friends to humans too; cats are no better, and dogs can certainly improve anyone's mood too.
3. Cats have this ability to hear, but it's useless to humans! only use it to save their own lives, but dogs at least think about you. If a burglar breaks into your house, the cat will hear and run away, but the dog will hear and try to protect you and your home. There are many cases of dogs saving humans.
4. Cats are useless; they just eat, sleep, eat, sleep, eat, sleep... and so on. SOMETIMES they play. Dogs sleep less, play more than cats, and protect you and your home.
5. I don't know why, My cats are filthy! There's one here that, even though he licks himself, when you run your hand through his fur, your hand turns black with dirt. :/
6. If cats live longer than dogs, they use more food than dogs, so it doesn't make a difference.

Wow, W-Rabbit, you really went for it: "Cats are useless; they just eat, sleep, eat, sleep, eat, sleep... and so on. SOMETIMES they play" xD
Cats are by no means better than dogs. Those who try to say they are, just take what cats have best and say it. They don't mention what dogs have best.
Dogs are useful, cats are useless.
Cats or dogs? neither pays rent but they both act like they own the place so thats why i chose a robot vacuum loyal quiet and it actually cleans up after itself sure it sometimes tries to eat socks but what pet doesnt honestly its the best companion ive ever had
