2. Cats are less likely to run away. Cats are incredibly loyal (more so than dogs) and will stay by their owners, unlike dogs, who immediately like anyone who pets them. Even if a cat gets lost, there have been instances of families moving and their cats traveling hundreds (over 800!) miles to find their owners.
I'm calling bullcrap on that one.
This one time, my brother's next door neighbors moved away, to a new house about 3 miles away. About a week later, my brother looks out on the deck, and sees their cat staring at him through the patio door. So, he calls them, "Hey come get your cat!" So, they pick it up. About a week later, the cat is back again.
It just kept running away.
Oh, the cat has loyalty. But it's not to you.
Cats are also very attached to their former "habitats", so chances are he was finding it hard to adapt to their surroundings.
Or possibly your brother just has a thing with cats.
