" That sign of old age, extolling the past at the expense of the present " quoted from Sydney Smith ( I'm guilty of that from time to time ).

An interesting quote from Federico Fellini: " There is a certain kind of carefree that returns to you in old age, different from the carefree of youth when you didn't know any better. It's more like being free of caring. It isn't joyous at all, as it was in youth, but it is a kind of freedom, and all kinds of freedom are precious in some way. "

Just saw a cute item relating to aging: " You know you're getting old when it feels like the morning after and yet you haven't been anywhere. "

A quote from Groucho Marx ( during his later years ): " Last night I had a typical cholesterol-free dinner: baked squash, skimmed milk, and gelatin. I'm sure this will not make me live any longer, but I know it's going to seem longer. "

Another quote from a old-time Comedian: " When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. " ( from Henny Youngman ).

That last one, badenwurtca, reminded me of this one.

“I’ve learned that when a man with money meets a man with experience, the man with experience ends up with the money and the man with the money ends up with experience.”

Let's go with a quote from Henny Youngman today: " You've reached old age when the gleam in your eye is just the sun on your bifocals. "

A cute item from Evelyn A Wade: " As we grow older, year by year, my husband always mourns; the less and less we feel our oats, the more we feel our corns. "

I wanted to mention this item for those of us who have spent numerous decades living here on this little planet. The October issue of " Discover " magazine has 14 pages dedicated to the workings of the old noggin. The first 6 pages are covered by the title " This Old Brain " and part II is entitled " What Once Was Lost ". So if you happen to be hanging around the magazine rack at the local supermarket take a peek at this publication and " Discover ".
