Chess For Oldtimers --- Part II
As we get older the invitations that we get will often change as well. When we visit people in our younger years they might say: " Come in and sit down and take a load off ". What do we get when we get older ? " Come in and sit down before you fall down " (yup kinda sad ).

In March I became a Granny for the 1st time. It amuses me to hear my son saying the same things to his daughter that I used to say to him eg Shall we do the windies now ? or Come on smelly bum let's get you changed. The clock seems to go back 30 years.
A very interesting quote from Thomas Mann: " Hold fast to time ! Use it ! Be conscious of each day, each hour ! The years slip away unnoticed all too easily and swiftly. " Yes all very true I'm afraid.
--- In my threads on the passing of time that happens to all of us there have been a lot of funny quotes however this item from Thomas Mann is quite true ( and also scary too lol ).
An interesting quote from Arthur Schopenhauer: " The closing years of life are like the end of a masquerade party, when the masks are dropped. "
Today we have a very short quote that is still interesting however: " In youth we learn, in age we Understand " ( from Marie Ebner-Eschenbach ).
heard an interesting quote today.
"We are prisoners of our own experiences"
Anyone know who said that or what the exact quote might be or in what context it was said?
