The problem isn't Fox, it's people. Fox and others wouldn't be so shamelessly two faced if it didn't work. People need to decide for themselves to take issues seriously instead of using news as a means of personal entertainment. If it's entertainment, then facts don't matter. If it's entertainment then it won't be worth more to you than the emotions it can evoke.

llama how much news do you view daily ? you might even agree with me that all news has editorial bias

so yes it ischoice to watch it or not that you can blame on the person but its their choice the media outlets to stop with all the biased reporting and instead return to investigative journalism

My point is, lets say you tear down Fox tomorrow. What would it change if people are still sick enough to want it? The answer is nothing would change. Something else would take its place.

It's important to point out propaganda where it exists, but it's naive to think of propaganda as more than a symptom.

Pointing out hypocrisy at Fox isn't  a call to action. I don't know how to change things but I know what positive change would look like, and that's people getting a reasonable education and nurturing an environment that encourages people to engage in rational discourse.

I don't watch any news. I can't stand it for more than 10 seconds. It's emotional goop. Everyone has panic in their voices over nothing. Lots of flashing colors and dramatic music. It really disgusts me.

I read news somewhat often though.

But yes, all news has editorial bias.

That's why it's useful to read the same story from a few different sources. e.g. one conservative, one liberal, and one international (like bbc).

Never thought i would see the day that the National Enquirer would become a more trusted news source, than the main stream manure.

And see, statements like this are everywhere.

It's just schoolyard bluster that doesn't mean anything. It makes no claims, it cites no evidence, it's just name calling. "You're a big dumb poop face"

It's cute when kids do it, but when you have a nation of adults who aren't self aware enough to realize they're being irrational, then all it takes to be a puppet master is a brightly lit studio and some chump with a degree in graphic design.

That is an unknown, it depends to some extent on the nature of the "tearing down" and the reasons for it.

Your point is presumably that doing so might be just a cosmetic change, but the roots of its existence would remain.

Possibly yes, but we cannot know that for sure unless it happens

What makes Fox? It's the viewers. Viewers = revenue. The viewers are not an accident, they are real people with real devotion. Take away a few measly studios and the semi talented actors, and the millions of fans remain.

It's important to point out propaganda where it exists, but it's naive to think of propaganda as more than a symptom.

There are many symptoms of " us" Including political structures, tax systems, and nearly everything if not indeed that !....everything

That's neither here nor there. I agree with you but I don't know what point you're trying to make.

Pointing out hypocrisy at Fox isn't  a call to action.

Its worthwhile, but it is unlikely to change a thing, proving their owners were child abusers would, but not much else.,I don't know how to change things.become by far and away the richest person on earth, that's about all Ican think of to do but I know what positive change would look like, and that's people getting a reasonable education and nurturing an environment that encourages people to engage in rational discourse.

Well I partly agree, but I would add emotional maturity and drive control to the above.

You cant just educuate people into rational discourse without attending to emotion, it cant over ride it,despite what CBT therapists would like you to believe.

Their methods fail when long term studies are carried out.

There are two extremes. At one end we have people who are irrational by habit and who lack self awareness of this to the point of having disdain for rational arguments. At the other end we have people who hold rationality is the highest ideal. I'm not arguing for either extreme, I'm lamenting that people lack a certain level of basic competence and self awareness. People who get caught up by demagogues while in their hearts distrusting experts are far too close to the first extreme.

Ok, that's more than a page worth of non-outbreak news source stuff...I'd have commented earlier but that was all posted in the hour since I last looked at the thread happy.png.  Let's get back to the outbreak-related stuff.
