Wow, a rare serious post from idilis.

Sorry to hear that about your dad.

Thanks man. But like I said he's 90. He's lived a full healthy life. Now he's had dementia for 3 years (happened after his last hospitalization for a fall) and isn't the person he used to be. So we're somewhat prepared.

Unsure why I'm over sharing but maybe it's the quarantine getting to me or the frustration of not being able to be on the ground to handle all this in person like I normally do.

RonaldJosephCote

Maybe you're just loving your dad more..... nothing wrong with that. wink

Similar situation with my dad, dementia for many years, he's still living at home though. He's in his 70s. Losing them before they're actually gone... I know a bit about that.

No problem with "over" sharing happy.png

My kid was telling me that when he regained consciousness the only voice he responded to was mine over the video phone and she wondered why. I told her we never forget the person who gives us the most pain. She laughed and said she hopes she's that person for me. I assured her she was.

At least now officially they are willing to say natural immunity is better than getting the shots.

As for this thread, it is today...Imagine that, talking about today's numbers.

COVID is now a non issue. It has always been a non issue for healthy people under 40.

Yes, the life of the party is back!

And yes again.

"The problem of saying 'I'm gonna get infected to get immunity' is you might be one of those people that end up in the hospital or die," said Christopher Murray, the director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington and the study's senior author. "Why would you take the risk when you can get immunity through vaccination quite safely?"

paper_llama

"I'm going to get sick to protect myself from getting sick" rather defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I know several people who "recovered" years ago but still suffer from "brain fog."

The vaccine is totally harmless and is an extremely common sense approach in terms of public policy. Political parties with nothing better to do tried to leverage something as mundane as a vaccine to get support. No one with any sense pays attention to such political shenanigans.

Ohh so now I mustnt even agree with what was Said?? I assume you are running Out of Points so you try to "moderate' the Thread by trying to silence ppl who don't agree with you (again discussing Something doesnt mean everyone Has to agree on an (your) opinion) with Stasilike Methods How real mature...smh

Can't say I didn't warn you. If you had made any actual points, I would not be blocking you. It's really not a hard guideline to follow...

For everyone else...read the OP and follow the guidelines. Informally, I use a "3 and out" rule of thumb, but you can avoid this extremely easily by posting literally *anything* reasonable about Covid that you can back up with a simple link.

Note how several posters have made "sorry to hear that" style posts, and I haven't said a word. Why? Because they all have prior histories here posting contributions.

If you come in here just barking about whatever, and you do not make any attempt to contribute anything cogent and useful, you will end up posting elsewhere.

sorry to temporarily hijack this topic. apologies to @diogenesdue.

thanks for everyone's wishes. my dad's back home now. he's physically fine but mentally much worse. this happens with every hospital visit and he never gets back to his previous level. owing to the violence towards the help and my mom, we've pretty much decided to put him in a nursing home.

back to on topic:

didn't know if i already said, but this time my covid symptoms were really minimal. 2 days of body ache and 4 days of sore throat. but with each infection, my aerobic capacity goes down and never really fully recovers. and my immunity to common cold or urti.

also it seems we're allowed to travel while being infected as the local 'Disease Outbreak Response System Condition' dorscon is at level green now.

RonaldJosephCote

Does your dad have altzheimers? If so, only certain nursing homes have a ward for that. Good luck finding a good one. I went throught that with my dad some yrs back.
