I guess you aren't reading the news. There's a marked uptick in cases right now.

...and it's "COVID'S OVER". I'm afraid given that, it's not a foregone conclusion that you will be cool, or rich, or for that matter, a lover. I guess "Ford" is still pretty solid bet for the future, though.

Yeah, I wonder if going to "Burning Man" was a good idea. Not that I wish covid on anyone but how many of the reported 75,000 people there will....(might)....come down with it in weeks to come.

My mom's friend who goes to writers conferences with her is totally insane when it comes to covid stuff. He has already had mild covid and recovered fine, yet he insisted on getting 5 shots. He refuses to eat inside in any restaurant, saying "it has to be a guarantee" to be able to eat outdoors to go there. Meanwhile He frequently takes trips around the world, to Egypt, Australia, Louisiana, South Africa, Europe..etc, and apparently doesn't mind being enclosed in a flying metal tube for 10+ hours with recirculation air. But being indoors in a restaurant? That's a no-no!

Well, that's just people being myopic. If you can take measures that reduce your chances of getting Covid across the board, take them.

I have not gotten a 5th booster, because there have been no variants post-Omicron that really warranted it...but that is probably about the change this winter...

The thing about mRNA vaccines is that they are easily configurable, and so when new variants come out, unlike traditional vaccines, an mRNA vaccine can be modified to combat them in a matter of days...the problem is that full-blown testing and distribution will still take months.

if you're going to state those wild claims about the lockdowns having a negative effect, you need to prove it, and not with any anecdotes.

texas had the second most covid cases (by state) and florida was third. these states were anti-lockdown, and destupid even passed legislation banning mask mandates.

your illness after receiving shots is a case many have had. some, like you, seem to think that the shots were useless because of the symptoms you had. i base that on your statement that you refused the booster(s). i would posit that you would have died without the shots. there is evidence to back this up. as the vaccines became more widely available, deaths plummeted. this is a direct causal relationship, not an anecdote.

Typical desperate argument. Texas and Florida have the 2nd and 3rd highest populations, that's why. Lockdown negative effects were harmful to the economy, children's mental health, education, most covid fanatics even agree with this. And no, I got severely sick from covid within a year of getting the first 2, before any boosters were available. And that just shows how useless the vaccines are. You don't get 3 polio vaccines and still get a severe case of Polio. Big effin deal I didn't die after getting vaccinated, vaccines are supposed to prevent illness in the first place. DeSantis did the right things in response to the paranoid propaganda about covid, and the US needs to make sure the crazies who disagree can never do anything like 2020 ever again. Some "evidence" if this is a recession as bad as 2008, superinflation, some of the worst reading and math test scores since 2020, and 50%+ increase in youth suicide and mental health problems. And again, you wouldnt call a polio vaccine effective if after getting 2-3 doses you ended up hospitalized with polio but happened to not die. Grow up, "2 weeks" started 3-4 years ago.

wow, you are really dense. you're talking about population size with texas and florida while ignoring that they had few mask mandates and lockdowns compared to other states. then, you immediately go to economic impact while knowing nothing about economics. this is similar to 2008?

you need to read a lot more. in another topic i saw you wrote you think 97% of what is learned in school is useless. you are the poster boy for that 3rd percentile.

finally, i live in florida, and destupid did almost all the wrong things. it was easy for him to mandate schools stay open because his kids were homeschooled. he appointed a surgeon general that said people don't need vaccines. he said kids exposed to covid had to go to school-no quarantine. he threatened to fire teachers who were pro-mask. this stuff is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg about how he is completely dimwitted and an authoritarian.
