Covid-19 Discussion (moderated)

There's something called 'credentialism' whose members believe one shouldn't talk about a subject unless one has a degree in it.
In a variation on credentialism - one 'should not' talk about a location unless one has been there.
For example according to credentialists - 'you should never talk about the moon unless you've been there.'
If credentialists had been in charge through the ages - the world would still be in the Stone Age - and people would essentially not be able to talk about anything.
'Hey - what you talking about a dozen eggs for?? - you don't have a degree in biology!! And you don't have a degree in math either!'
Credentialism is mainly a tactic though.
Its like solipsism. For solipsists - nothing can be proven to him or her ... not even that they and the world exist. Do they believe their own nonsense?
No. But they bring it out tactically.
Like credentialism.

By their illogic there should be no Covid forum.
By the illogic of the solipsists - there is no Covid.
According to them you can't prove to them that Covid is a reality because they 'say so'.

I hate credentialism. It interferes with my embellishments.

Credentialism I call a 'type 2 internet personality behaviour.'
In addition to their obsessions about degrees there's also credentialism among people obsessed with chess titles and ratings and levels of the game.
The higher their own chess level - the more obsessed they are with that too.
Credentialists often obsess over IQ test scores too.

No, you need advanced degrees for that. My IQ never availed me.

You would need officer training in a military Academy.

i was looking for a particular video where both biden and harris trying to convince the public to refuse to take vaccines or whatever, can’t remember exactly it was a long time ago, just before the election when they would probably lose if vaccines were distributed on time.. all 100% true. couldn’t find it, but this came up on the search so i posted it instead.. lol. i have to go now, but will try to look it up again later if i won’t lose interest by then. lol. and please stop being so manipulative..

If you find it, go ahead and post it, but do not make claims like "100% true" without backup. Read the guidelines on page 1, and be aware that grousing about the past (revisionist or not) in and of itself is not going to cut it in terms of content, so make sure you have something current/new to discuss as well. This is a thread about Covid-19. If your goal is to discuss anything else, you're not going to have a lot of luck.

There's nothing manipulative about holding posters' feet to the fire on sources/data.

I think the reason this can't be found is because it doesn't exist. It sounds like something a TV or internet commentator would say cynically: "Well, you know, Biden doesn't want you to get a vaccine, since it would mean Trump did something right..." or some such stuff. The other bobbleheads on the panel all nod in agreement and the viewers are left to think, and to remember, that Biden didn't want people to get vaccinated. This is how gaslighting media outlets plant false memories into the heads of otherwise sane and rational people.

But its based on the 'push' concept.
Push people in the direction they're inclined to go in the voting booth anyway - but give them more comfort and excuse and phony indoctrination to motivate them to show up and then do that.
