I had to use sub-titles because of their thick accent, but this chess movie is by far the best movie about chess i've ever seen. (I've only seen 2 chess movies) I put it in this thread because It goes perfectly.
Hope Nurse Ratched will allow a movie night for all us crazies to watch this.

Pawn Sacrifice was pretty good flick. I remember HW asking about it to me on some other thread. Finally saw it.
One setback I had was the way Toby walked in the film. He walked the same way in Spiderman so it threw me off a bit...always got reminded of spiderman. And I couldn't stand the way he walked. bit shallow I s'pose...
Considering the political ramifications, it wasn't surprising that Fischer was so paranoid. There is no way that the CIA & the KGB were not involved. That phone call off Kissenger for example.
The other thing which Pawn Sacrifice points towards too, was the coupling of genius/madness. Intriguing area. When his 2nd was asked about medication for Fischer, he said 'it would be like pouring poison down a holy well'.
Seems like you need the one for the other. Read a great book yrs ago called 'touched by fire' about great poets & writers. Similar polar dynamic.
