Digimon!

Are you only going to compare digimon to pokemon or do you not even know what it is?
Here is the very first episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwmQimWR_aY
I know the franchise does not contain anything close to as good as the battling system on pokemon games.

Have you watched the shows? The underlying stories are far more effective in digimon by far and the most recent digimon games are pretty good!

What did I see about openly attacking digimon? You must at least see that there is an incredible fanbase for both pokemon and digimon shows.
The games rank at obviously different levels of popularity but that is because of predjudice and funding. It does not make digimon weaker.
My own childhood and many others were spent with these games and shows. Do you think they are wrong for liking digimon?
I didn't mention the shows until you brought them up. Did you expect me to lie if I did not like it? It is popular among very young children. I am sure that you loved many things when you were younger than you are now that you now realize are not that good. Simpler minds require simpler entertainment.
It is not prejudice and funding that makes digimon games worse than pokemon games. It is the games themselves that are worse.
Much of my younger childhood was spend playing the games and watching the shows too. That does not make them good. It was just because of my undeveloped brain that I enjoyed them. Competitive pokemon on an online simulator was a main hbby of mine for quite a while during gen 4. Fun stuff, that.

Thank you for your comments and it has made me think a lot about it. Could I ask you why pokemon are better than digimon in your opinion? I want to know as you haven't yet even talked about what digimon is at all!
I think neither have any real merits except for the battle system of the pokemon games. One awesome thing is better than no awesome things so pokemon is better than digimon.

Can you stop shooting digimon down! Your showing a biased comparison and have given no examples whatsoever to show how terrible digimon is. Give one game from both digimon and pokemon to compare them, then I'll listen.
You ask an opinion and complain when it is negative. Don't ask a question that you don't want to hear the answer to.
I do not wish to review either a pokemon game or a digimon game.

Digimon is Pokemon's retarded cousin.
Admittedly I did watch a lot more Digimon growing up but that was due to the fact that Pokemon came on earlier and I usually hadn't made it home from school by then. The shows were pretty okay I guess, I don't really remember any of it standing out all that well. Japanese shows do not seem to age well.
As for the games Pokemon wins hands down. Pokemon has a nice combination of simplistic game play combined with robust and surprisingly in-depth RPG elements. Ever heard of Effort Values? It's an underlying mechanic of Pokemon games distributing stats based on the Pokemon your Pokemon defeated. Beating say Machamp would yield increased Attack stats upon a level up while beating Alakazam would give more Speical Attack. This mechanic is what made your honestly trained Pokemon curb stomp the ones people leveled with Rare Candy whoring. The Digmon games on the other hand didn't bring too much to the table, granted I only played Digimon World 1 and 2. The first one was like a Tamagotchi game out of control, I mean you had to take the bloody thing to the bathroom even. You couldn't simply go out and fight and eventually the poor thing died forcing you to start all over with the talking head version again. The second one was worse, you drive around in some ridiculous tank. It didn't even appeal to fans of the show, remember the episode where they drove around in a digi-beetle worrying about traps and running out of battery power? Me neither.
I also picked up some Digimon cards one day on a whim, I still kick myself for wasting three bucks that could have gone to Pokemon cards. As a kid with very limited financial means we looked for the most bang for our buck when it came to trading cards. You had to be able to collect them effectivly and you had to be able to make use of them competitively. Pokemon did an excellent job establishing various Pokemon so when you picked up the cards you knew where your collection stood. Digimon on the other hand was very vague about what circumstances caused a Digimon to digivolve into another Digimon or how many Digimon there even were, this made them difficlut to collect and the TCG rules and game play mechanics are still a mystery to me.
Franchises like this are really rated based on how each media stands up on it's own. Digimon might be respectable if you ignore the crappy games, the lame manga, the stupid card game and don't watch the TV show as an adult. Don't get me wrong the Pokemon anime is not something you'll be able to stomach as a grown-up and no one would be able to set down with an old-school Rain Dance deck and stand a chance against the new cards but the RPGs are still pretty good, heck I think I might start a new Pokemon Fire Red save after typing this crap.

Pawns digivolve one level when their repsective pieces are in a position to be captured. Piece neither digivolve nor dedigivolve. I included Floramon & Gotsumon because there aren't enough rookie villains. I'll post more soon.
This a forum for any possible digimon fans out there!
I hope that some people may find it interesting and as there are so many chess.com members I'm sure they'll be people who can post something.
Note: Please don't post overly harsh critisism
e.g. "I HATE DIGIMON!!! IT SUCKS!"
Even if that is your view it only spams up forums.
Thanks!
