Does True Randomness Actually Exist?

They are not my textbooks, so your point is invalid.

But also your description is a gross distortion of the subject as a whole. While a more minor inaccuracy in your claim is that it was 37 years between the fake discovery and it being proven categorically not any sort of missing link, it is also true that this was an outlier in a science where almost all the other work stood the test of time.

Radiometric dating being routine since the 1940s, such hoaxes have been impossible for a long time. The evolution of hominins is now well understood (with a lot more detail than this simplified diagram):

Elroch - your ancestors are not monkeys despite all the wishful thinking in the world.

Give yourself some credit man!

Elroch

Just because you are not proud of your ancestors and never invite them round to dinner.

Opt - if evolution was indisputable ....religion/spiritualism would cease to existwink.png

They tried that with Piltdown Man. Most are oblivious to that conspiracy fact.

I am not good at all. I'm contentious and contention breeds controversy.

noodles2112

Oh yeah I forgot the pope said god uses evolutionwink.png

Piltdown man did what it needed to do. Engraved in the brain for generations that they derived from generations of baboons mating with chimpswink.png

saygrrmanytimes

This is looking like it's going to get shut down

Smart people you say Elroch.

For more than 4 Decades textbooks claimed Piltdown man was definitive proof of evolution. Then it was discovered to be a hoax.

That doesn't sound like smart people to me

Sounds more like textbooks writers with an agenda.

Lab experiments have demonstrated biological evolution. Noodles, you should stick to what you're good at.

What's that, btw?

Optimized, do you believe in entropy?

In my opinion entropy is a localised phenomenon and it has an opposite. It's the opposite tendency which is the universal phenomenon. That would account for both gravity (localised) and universal expansion (universal).

Interesting theory... but what set either of these opposite forces in motion? Themselves?

noodles2112

Here is the theory of evolution in a nutshell.

Chimpanzees, Orangutans, Baboons & a few of their relatives got together and had countless colossal RANDOM orgies.

Then "We The People" came along decided to cage them up and throw them popcornwink.png

Opt - get out of the kitchen before it explodes!!!

noodles2112

Opt - if I wasn't here this thread would become nonrandom. wink.png

I think some refer to that possibility as an "echo chamber"?!

noodles2112

That is the eternal theory.... Paradoxes....or paradoxical homeostasis.

Yes, because they're fundamental principles. All it needs is a capability for a balanced, neutral zero (nothingness) to spontaneously divide into one quantum of space and one quantum of matter. Other than that, perhaps the universe is eternal.

So nothing needs to spontaneously turn into something? Which goes against every single rule you have ever agued on this forum? Science has now proved that God is real.

Okay i wont get into it too much but I'm just saying the idea of God is an omniscient figure that created us and understands more than we can humanly comprehend. I'm sure God is more than an anthropomorphic projection.

I am not sure what it could mean for entropy to be "localised". If you have stuff in two places, the relationship of those two matters as well as their individual constituents.

To take the simplest (in a sense) example, suppose you have two black holes. Individually, they are in the highest entropy state possible. Each has entropy proportional to the square of its mass.

The state where both are combined into a single black hole always has higher entropy) because the square of the sum of two strictly positive numbers is always bigger than the sum of their squares).

[The above is not quite true, because a black hole has a temperature, so it radiates black body radiation, and presuming a cold, infinite Universe surrounding these two black holes, there would be a lower state where all the mass has evaporated as electromagnetic radiation].

noodles2112

You guys think the theory of the big bang billions of years old universe is new. I have already exclaimed were it derived. That religious/superstitious fantasy has been around a very long time.

Something they Don't teach from school textbooks for a reason!.

noodles2112

If I see the magicians tricks attempting to deceive then I am obligated to let them know they are being deceived.

some listen and investigate. some don't.

simple as that.

noodles2112

opt - it is obvious that you prefer the tricks to the solutions.

when i was a kid i saw many who preferred the same.

they simply did not want to know.

into adulthood.

until the end.

Yes, it's probably the single worst thing you can do apart from jumping off a cliff.

vaping is worse objectively...

Hey @LettuceSink my downstairs neighbor washes his lettuce in the alley with the garden hose. I think I can get you a dinner invite if you're interested? Don't mind me just a random post.

Many don't know that the Titanic had 20,000 cases of Helman's mayonnaise on board when it sank. It's next port from New York was Ixtapa Mexico in May. When the news reached the people the Titanic sank and would not make it to Mexico they mourned forever after with an annual memorial service called , El Sinko de Mayowink.png
