Earth is flat. Prove me wrong.

I have decided to prove this once and for all. I am currently flying an airplane west, that's why I haen't posted in a while.  I left the Northern California coast sevel hours ago and am currently just North of Hawaii (dip wings in memory of 12/7/41)

All I see is water and sky.  Perhaps the roundies are correct.  Perhaps I have been wrong my entire life! Living a lie.  Wait--

I need to look at a map.  I don't recall a HUGE waterfall anywhere in the Pacific--wait, that's not a waterfall -- its the oceon falling off the west side of the earth--I'm going down -- hard to breath--eveything dark--sea monsters--HELP me Art Bell!!!  [radio transmission dead]

A lesson to be learned. Securely attach a tether before all departures to the edge.

Or a bungee cord. Innocent

The ultimate in a dare devil stunt, jumping off the edge attached to a bungee! I'd definitely pay to watch.

Does government fund a consensus for the round earth debate?  No.

Does the government try to muzzle, prosecute, or jail round earth deniers?  No.

Does the government sponsor endless tv shows and magazine articles espousing the theory of a round earth?  No.

Ergo; the earth must be round.   Tongue Out

That would make it too obvious that the government is hiding something. Besides, they already have most of the public fooled.

  Hmmm, I didn't think of that.   ;)

The American government seems the best at tom-foolery, or is it simply that the people are more gullible? No politics intended.

I'm not sure if this constitutes a proof or whether it falls under the category of deductive reasoning but, for what it's worth, here goes:

1. The earth is a planet.

2. The earth's mass is well above the threshold such that it's gravitational field would force it to adopt the shape of a sphere.

3. The earth is not flat.

Thanks Einstein. Laughing

Not too deductive. You might try 1. Earth is not flat. 2. It has gravity. 3. Therefor it is a planet. I keep asking for a surveyor to present hard factual evidence disputing a flat earth. Along the lines that the Egyptians used.I don't buy satellite photos, never been in a satellite.

if the earth was flat it would be the same time in all points of the earth

if the earth was flat during a lunar eclipse we would see a rectangular shadow on the moon but we see a circular shadow

im in the tenth grade and one of the subjects in geography is proof the earth is round and there are more than 50 of them

This conversation is completely and utterly pointless... Honestly. It's not like we're gonna convince the world that they're living on a flat or round planet. NORMAL people don't care as long as they're safe. So who cares? We are living, breathing, and if the earth is flat... So be it.

So there is no point in getting your panties in a wad over this.

Austin... good work. However, there can be other explanations such as if the earth were in fact a round "disk" flat like a silver dollar, it could cast a round shawdow under the right cinditions. Got a proof in your class of how the Egyptians did it? Their surveying techniques probably surpass those of today. Premise A followed by B is true proves C. Many false conclusions are reached by scientists because they accept C as true, base their premise A accordingly.

The earth is not a rectangle.

No, the sun is more like a spot light that revolves around the north pole. It is 32 miles in diameter and a few thousand miles above Earth's surface.

It must be nearer than that. I can see it from my house even when it's cloudy. I don't often see it at night though. Innocent
