First of all:
1 - I understand that chess is a peaceful game
2 - I understand that people ARE capable of being nice
3 - I understand that this website is devoted to chess, but also to "fair-play"
However, I also understand that:
1 - Being chess a competiive game, its bound to generate negative feelings ocasionally
2 - People are capable of being... lets say... not-nice
3 - This website contains numerous topics that lead to disagreements (which are not a bad thing if they are civilized, but that can escalate to more serious matters)
So I have a proposal: Why not create a Forum-Topic (maybe even this one) that is devoted to flame wars?
Rules of decent behaviour would still impose (No cursing, no sexual comments, etc.) but there would be more freedom to argue over any topics that one wished.
If someone wants to take a shot at Cheater_1 for being who he is, then let him! If someone wants to call the guy who stated that 1. a4 is the best opening possible an idiot, then let him! If someone wants to moan about being disconnected from Livechess, then let him! If someone wants to say that I am stupid for sugesting such an idea, then by all means, let him!
As long as we keep this sort of behaviour restrained in a single area, I belive that it could actually help people unwind and be nicer when it comes to "serious" discussions.
Feel free to bash my idea all you want, but unless its aproved, don't follow it. Ok :)
