Music is a very integral part of my life. I play, 🎼 I write, 📝 I talk about it, 💬 and I listen. 🎧 Boy, do I listen. And it’s not just rock. Or metal. Or pop, or rap, or any genre. It’s pretty much all of ‘em, in one giant mix of music. Different cultures, religions, countries, and walks make music to listen to, and people of all these groups listen. And it’s probably one of the greatest experiences, to listen to new music. And I think that should be shared. 🎶

Everyone has different tastes, and everyone listens to different things. But it’s always been long debated which is the best. And I think that’s a good thing. 💯 By bringing light to other genres and flavors of music, as you may call it, it encourages diversity and trying new things. So, debate over music is a good thing. 👍

But why not make it a game? Engagement through competition is one of the best ways to make an activity fun. So, to introduce a fun way to debate over music and spread musical tastes, I would like to introduce: Flamin’ Beats, a new idea for a forum game. 🔥🎵

The premise is simple: Members will reach out with a choice of 3 songs. They will go against 2 other members and their choice of three songs. That makes for 9 songs on spotlight per round. Diversity in the songs included is reccomended for reasons to be stated later. You are limited to three songs only, but you may choose to add only two or even one, but I wouldn’t reccomend it (Again, for reasons to be stated later ). Songs can be explicit, but I will ask if you have the choice, please shy away from songs with explicity for the sake of the users. I will add a disclaimer above every song that has explicity in it. 🚩

Members who are not participating will be given 100 flames, the point system of the game. They will be asked to listen to all the songs that the 3 competing members have given, and distribute the points (in whole numbers) between the users based on how much they like the selection of songs, by messaging me their vote. For example: “User A gets 50 💪, User B gets 15 😓, User C gets 35 😙”. Members who are participating will be given 50 points to distribute, but they cannot distribute them to themselves, and will rather have to distribute them to the other two members. I, personally, am giving 35 to Teri, and 15 to Basix.

Once a deadline is hit, the points will be tallied and revealed, and randomly selected special awards will be given at my discretion. Examples include, but are not restricted to: “Biggest Variance”(The biggest difference between genres of the chosen songs), “Artist Spotlight” 🌇 (All songs belonging to one artist), “Underground Sleuth” ✨ (Obscure/underground musicians/songs), and others. The awards will reward varying amounts of points depending on their depth. They will generally fall between a range of 10-20% of the total points that the vote offered. (If 1,500 points were recorded from the total votes, the rewards will have a 150-300 point value combined). I will deduct 50 points per Ariana Grande song, though. 😈 (for all intents and purposes, this is purely for comedic purposes and should not be taken seriously.)

All participants will be recorded in their rounds, and all 3 songs will be recorded. Once you have your points, you will be entered on a leaderboard. You may compete multiple times, and your points will add up, encouraging you to compete multiple times. However, I will allow those who actively participate in voting to be on more often, thus providing more chances to gain points. 🗿 This is very honor-system-based, and cheating will be frowned upon. All songs used in rounds will also be recorded to allow users to go back and check.

It’s smart to use different types of songs to appeal to different members, to use all three songs rather than one or two to spread diversity far as possible, and to use non-explicit songs to allow users more variance to listen to without hearing explicity, but this is mainly for fun, and enjoyment from competitors is most important. With that said, have fun! 😎
