like if you think the f-35 stinks, plz say so, and why

Avatar of dtf15

cmon guys aviation's cool. I think that the su-27 is pretty cool, but the f-22 is even better, even if it has 2d assertively swivel engines instead of 3d swivel engines like the Su-27

there must be some air buffs out there

I dont mind saying this is deppresing. There are no people who love aviation so much that they cant help but talk about it???Yell

I'm Not an an 'Aviation buff' ..{maybe when we're able to travel 'by thought'?}.. But, since I wasn't 'born yesterday'; The 'cooler' {implied}, 'f-22' is one of Many unnecessary 'taxpayer' funded programs; That have played a role, in bankrupting the 'USA.'  ] ;

Avatar of dtf15

Ummm, sorry cant agree with you. Now if your talking about the F-35, well, thats junk. Its the most expensive fighter ever to be produced, and it doesnt even fly well! I've heard that most of its pilots hate it.

The U.S. needs a new super fighter, and I think they get that in the F-22. Russia has many new (and old) fighters that can outperform our current fighters. (With the possible exception of the F-22) Not to worry though, our pilots are as a rule, much better trained, and tech on our fighters is the best in the world.

I guess chess and aviation just dont go together. Cry

'dtf' - You appear to be implying, that the 'Ruskies' and the so called 'western world' are more-or-less synomynous, with a 'good-guys' {white hats}, 'Bad-guys' analogy!?

Without stating that he {'Putin'}, doesn't have his own 'moral' shortcomings, {a No brainer}; Prez. 'BHO' appears to be appreciably More duplicitous!; Even in, his continued policy, 'post-'90s'-Cold-War, political interference, in 'Ukraine'; Among other places!

Keep in mind, that the 'US' and-or 'NATO'; Has Far More overseas military bases, 'overseas' {surrounding Russia & China}; Whilst leaving, the 'USA's extensive 'southern border'; Noticeably, vulnerable!?! -- Almost, as if we.. {the 'BHO' admin.}; Has a BIG 'Welcome mat' placed there.. {with his 'exec' orders, and 'non-enforcement' policies!?!}

I agree, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt have a new high tech fighter. At one point quality beats quantity. (Wich is the way we have defeated the Russians in Korea and Vietnam, with our quality)

Avatar of Stolen_Authenticity

Though, I'm not an 'aviation' buff; The following, {accessed under: 'images'/'aviation quotes'} .. reminds me, of another good quote, of - "It's Not, what you know, that's most important; But rather; Knowing where-to-go, for the needed information"!  0:

Let me correct my coment on the U.S. wining in Vietnam. I do not mean that we 'won' in Vietnam, I simply mean that the tally of 'kills' to 'losses' was largely in our favor. (even if it had dropped significantly since the Korean war)

Avatar of Stolen_Authenticity

Other than the 'USA's 'Vietnam' intervention.. I believe was {in long-view retrospect}; Basically, superficially thought out; By as usual; Older men, in No danger of being 'drafted'; And, likely having their 'sons' declared 'exempt' from having to serve! ..{'studying' for a 'college degree' back then, was the most common exemption, from 'fighting'}; It has Long been, the 'Asian mindset' {if-you-will}; That they would-will, Gladly accept, disproportinate 'kill-ratios'; And, given their culture, over- population and mindset; Who can blame them!

Chalk up, another, fairly long-past 'success'/debacle; No small thanks, to our 'M.I.' {military-industrial}, complex'; Who are actively {if indirectly, through gov't 'think-tanks'} - Promoting military expenditures - To line-their-pockets!  ] ;

No, I dont think so.

In Korea we one, and today Korea (south, and look at north!) is a very 'nice' place to be. In the least certainly better than North Korea!

In Vietnam, the problem was we did not fight to win, we fought to draw, or to stall. The White House did not give enough power to the generals to fight an effective war, which is (I believe) the major reason it lasted so long, and in the end we lost.

If we had put muscle into it, the war would have ended much sooner, and it would have probably been a 'win'.

I do believe that it was good we where there. (in korea and Vietnam) Because America, beeing a powerful nation, should stand up for the weak and defensles, and fight injustice wherever it is, and that includes foreign countries.

Iraq is a perfect example of the U.S. using its military might to win quickly, and effectively.

Iraq is a perfect example of the U.S. using its military might to win quickly, and effectively.  -- 'OMG'! .. Oh well; At least you're Not a voting 'USA' citizen; That I know of.  } ;

 I'll give you the last word.. {ie. better things to do, here}; This digression, has become, partially, fact-obliterated, Hopeless.

Avatar of dtf15

Then I gather that you dont think Iraq was a well 'done' war???

It is one of the shortest in modern history, very few allied casualties, (praticaly none) while the enemy was obliterated. And on top of that very few civilian casualties. Within the first hours of the start of the war, the entire Iraqi army was incapacitated. And mainly by air power.

(and I will vote in the next elections)

Avatar of dtf15

I call that well planned!

.. At least, this {posting} 'thread' is an available 'Non-Sequitur' topic spot; Where, I won't be posting, twice-in-succession!; Plus, since you're from the country, of which the following 'link' once happened!  [ :
