The cultural differences of "swear words" is actually very interesting. Growing up in Quebec, I heard the French and English ones, of course. What many people don't realize is that all (well most) of the English swear words relate to sex, most likely from puritanical England.
However, few of the French swear words relate to sex, they all (or most) relate to religion. To give you three examples, tabernacle, the chalice and the communion host form the basis of the three worst swear words in the French language!
