Free poker tournament for chessplayers
Hi All,
I'm an chessplayer from Australia. Me and some other chessplayers have been involved with organizing a free poker tournament, which you can view at http://freepokerrealprizes.com. It costs $0 to enter and there is $500 in prizemoney - no catches. We've not advertised it much, but have instead tried to focus on finding people who have never played poker seriously before but might have talent for it. So we've been pitching the event at university engineering and computer science students, mathematicians, etc.
It's well known that chessplayers have a pretty huge edge at poker (for example, see http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=5208), so I'd like to extend an invitation to you guys here. It won't cost you a cent, and it's a great opportunity to get some practice and maybe win some cash. Unfortunately players from the United States are not allowed, nor are players under 18 years of age.
Cheers
Svetlana.
Btw, my theory about the superiority of chessplayers at poker was vindicated by the results of that $500 free poker tournament I mentioned. It was won by Kerry Stead, a solid chessplayer with a FIDE Rating of 2087: http://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?event=3202577. You can read about his success at http://www.freepokerrealprizes.com.
