freedom vs safety

Case in point: 

Naomi Wolf, an American author has been banned from Twitter for stating that the covid vaccine is a "software platform that can receive uploads".

This is such garbage as to be laughable but to ban her for saying it is clearly wrong.  There are certain cases where I am willing to give up freedom for safety as in the case of laws controlling crime.  However, banning stupid comments and the people who make them is a travesty against free speech and takes us down a dangerous road.  Protecting ignorant people from obvious liars and con artists is not justification for blocking free speech.

Intelligent comments welcomed.  Ignorant comments will not be banned but ridicule is guaranteed.
