Genetically Modified Foods

I saw a shocking documentary about the food industry, specifically about a few large corporations (e.g. Monsanto) who are essentially trying to take over the food market and eliminate all options except their genetically modified products. According to the documentary, these foods are making people sick, causing allergies, interfering with fertility and causing a long list of other problems.

I was unaware of the extent of this issue and am wondering whether this is hyperbole, alarmism, or simply true and as horrifying as it sounds. Any comments? I really want to know more. Fortunately I lost my appetite 2 minutes into the documentary so I haven't been eating much...

There's plenty of info on this issue on sites like Naturalnews.com

I try to avoid GM foods as much as possible, though it's hard to tell which foods are GM and which aren't.

Yeah; I'm going to be going to Whole Foods a lot more often (I hope their stuff really is organic)

I eat organic as often as possible. It's shocking that there are some people who believe that organic food is no different than non-organic! Surprised

It's hard to tell what the difference is between organics and conventional food in terms of health. Some studies found that organic tomatoes have higher nutritional content, while another concluded that they do not. Pesticides and the breeding of antibiodic-resistant microbes are of course a concern.

Either way, organics are less harmful to the environment, and for meat, involve less harm to animals. In my experience, they taste better.

Eeek I could write so much now... Anyway quick story my mum got Cancer we had always eaton very healthily but then to cure her cancer she looked up TONS of things and found out loads of things and how our diet infact was still terrible. We changed our diet dramatically and she cured her cancer and is now MUCH more healthy then 90% of the people on earth. (more healthy then ALL the people i know) Basically just be concious of what you eat don't eat junk food Suguar tricks your body into thinking it has just had food with energy but infact there's nothing in there and it's very unhealthy for your body you get such a suguar low after the high it's not worth it. Honey is good with anything once you get used to it. But only get raw honey (look up) And then yeah be very organic make things at home... maybe watch the movie "earthlings" We have salad out of our garden for lunch everyday. yeah...
