I understand. Just an opportunity for sarcasm directed at the largely-untouched-for-over-a-decade forum infrastructure.

Still no image with quoted text. Not likely c.c intends to correct anything in forums.

The app is actually worse. Last time I tried it even text was not copied when replying.

The chess.com app is terribly inconvenient to use for forums.

You can’t quote a post to reply, post pictures or videos, upvote/downvote and react, or do anything except for type and make threads.

Greenland is very significant in cooling the earth, all it's ice and snow are helping to (partly) mediate out planet. Melting it would have catastrophic effects.

The problems it would create outweighs the potential benefits, not to mention the immense monetary costs and energy requirements of it.

BurgerEatersInc

there is no monetary and energy investments its already happening

If the gulf stream collapses, Europe's weather will take gigantic dips in temperature, sea levels would rise, rainfall patterns would change, devastating agriculture, and extreme weather conditions would become a lot more frequent and severe.

you got me on that one you win

The UK may be a small island, but that means we have a lot of sea around us. So good to see that the UK (with it's < 70 million population) is leading the rest of the world in offshore wind. While China is the leader in this renewable source as well as (to a greater extent) solar PV, they do have over 20 times our population!

The top three countries with the longest coastlines are Canada, Philipines and Norway but ice gets in the way of numbers 2 and 3.

The US is eighth but east and west coasts are perpendicular to prevailing winds and the gulf of Mexico is large. Oil rigs could be replaced by turbines to power most of the country including Mexico.

There are currently 3500 gas and oil rigs in the gulf.

Presently the US has 100 offshore turbines only 7 of which are functional. Ongoing projects are expected to reach 3200 by 2030.
