Anyone else feeling an exuberant joy and foolish optimism tonight, brought on by the scenes and sounds of Cairo celebrating her liberation? I must say I am deeply moved. It is so often true that moments of such great hope and joy are followed with disappointment and disillusionment. I am pushing the thought aside, and letting the hope and joy of the Egyptian people touch my American heart.

My best wishes tonight to all my friends in Egypt. May peace, joy, justice and freedom always be yours. Know that you have many friends in America who share your joy on this great day.
