almost 7000 guns were confiscated by tsa at airports in 2023. 93% of them were loaded. so, what were these people thinking?

I wonder about the details of that. It could be that many of them were in proper containers but loaded.
Then there is the occasional dimwit who tries to carry one on. Surveillance video at an airport showed a man in line to purchase tickets. He adjusted his shirt and accidentally discharged his pistol. Then he ran out of the airport, and I don’t think they ever identified who he was. I have been through some small airports that were very laxed but you’re not getting a gun through most places.
