Here's a classic Chess poem that I dug out of the old 2+2 forums. If you've been around in Chess for long enough you've seen Garry Kasparov's drunk rendition of this classic:

The new year has arrived,
A time to start anew.
For chess players, it's a chance
To test their skills anew.

The board is set, the pieces placed,
The battle about to start.
Each player with a simple goal,
To outmaneuver, outsmart.

The pawns move forward, one by one,
Protected by the knights.
The bishops sweep across the board,
A gleaming, graceful sight.

The rooks defend the flanks with might,
The queen the center holds.
And as the king sits safe and sound,
The game of chess unfolds.

So here's to the new year ahead,
A time for games and fun.
May every player find success,
And the victory they've won.
