History

When you think about fighting, maybe you think of war, or disease. I think of history. There’s only one truth in life. You will die. Sure, it’s grim thought. But it’s the truth. When all you have to look at is death, it makes you change perspective. You start thinking about other things. About how amazing life would be, if you could do anything. When I look at otf, I don’t see conversations, or threads. I see all the history left behind, all that’s gone, that will almost never be found. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to incapsulate what I think into words, every time I see another otfer gone, or mentions of an old one, 100 thoughts fly through my head. Everything that passed, that I had a serious chance to witness. Otf is much more like real life and society than anything I’ve seen. It shows the true amount of history we preserve, which is none. There isn’t an easy way to look at the past, you’d need to know what to look for, what to see. Chess.com doesn’t focus, or care about making it easier to find. In fact, I hardly doubt anyone cares about the history of the past. Why would you? But I do. All the history we have, is preserved but impossible to find, I mean we only have people from the past to tell us. How many can you name from that, from the true start. Maybe 1 or 2. Maybe more. I don’t really understand why I’m making this. I just think that I need to say this. Because I feel like there’s no point being here of if it’s not interesting, if it’s not worth it. I spend quite a bit of time on otf, writing these long essays, and also just chatting. But I’m not really in otf. I don’t know the jokes, the memes. I hardly know the people, especially the new ones.
I’m not leaving. I don’t know if I can, I’ve been here long enough I want to have my own little part in history. I just wanted to say something I always think. The only certainty you will have in life is death. And that means the only way to live after is to be remembered.
