If you want to save say an image file from the Web to the HD you would normally right-click and select 'Save as', but how do you do the same for an audio file (.wav, etc)? Here I am refering to sites that offer free .wav, etc, downloads.
If I either right-click on the/a link without downloading, or I first download the audio file and then right-click, the only possible options I get is 'Save link as' or 'Save link location' which are no good as this would mean the browser or media player having to go to the source URL every time (correct me if I'm wrong here), whereas all I want to do is simply (ha, ha) save an audio file in a similar way to how you would save say an image file - how do you do this?
I know this. When you find the file you want to save, right click it. There should be an option that says 'save target as'. This is different from saving the link. Left Click on that and it will say something like 'gathering information from....'. Then a window appears which will have one of your existing folders as a target. At this point you can go up or down your folders , or create a new folder by right clicking the empty space inside the shown folder contents (hope that makes sense). At the bottom of the window, you will see the file name. At this point you can change the file name by highlighting it with a left mouse click. Then press save. You will see the save progression bar and at the end it says saved successfully or something like it. One note, I have saved a lot of music files like this and they tend to be about 3-5Mb mp3 formats. This should take about 30s, but sometimes it says it has saved it in 2s. It hasn't. If this happens, go through the save procedure again (it will auto-pick up the right target folder) and click on the file name you saved as in the folder. It says 'this folder already exists, do you want to replace' and click yes . This normally does it. If you want to further burn these files to cd, it's a different matter. You can save them as they stand, but they wont play on cd players, only dvd players because you have saved a data file and modern cd players dont recognise them. If this is what you want to do, post again or send me a message and i will reply. Seeing as you in GB, you could even phone me! It took me a while to work it out! But now I can do it easy. Cheers.
Great - many thanks for that. This is what I was expecting, 'save target as' but for some reason all I seem to get is either 'save link as' and 'save link location', bit of a mystery there, but I'll try again and let you know. Cheers to you also.
