reason summary: lo-fi beats to study and relax to
full reason: it seems you really like pop songs from the late 70s to early 90s, this fits right in the era. despite this, there's something about the song that has a more laid back tone to it, something i could see myself playing when i lay down on a hill at the park. the problem is that there isn't much difference form this and other pop songs from the era. now for sweet baby

reason summary: the singing and the piano are from 2 different songs, are they?
full reason: the piano and the vocals sound like they have 2 different bpms, the singing sounds like if the singer on dogsbody wasn't so shaky (this is bad, the singing on dogsbody only works because of the instrumentals and it isn't good when taken out of context like this. listen to dogsbody thought, it's an amazing album) and the piano sounds like it's supposed to be from a rick astley song (this is also bad). can't even be saved by this being an artistic choice with the lyrics providing context on why everything is in disarray, the lyrics are generic love lyrics that can be applied to anyone. this was also made with the intent of being a generic pop song from the era it was made with, which is the last straw that makes this song the first 0
I'll just keep it short and a bit diverse, kinda random actually
Albums :
Illmatic - Nas
Humbug - Arctic Monkeys
Songs :
1.I got 5 on it by Luniz, Michael Marshall
2. Valerie by The Weeknd
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Illmatic....trust me, I promise you'll be blown away by Nas' lyricism....great production as well....imo the best hip-hop album ever.
i've been meaning to listen to it because i've heard it's amazing, but better than tpab?

finally got around to illmatic, let's do this
rating: 10
summary: bars
full thoughts: my 3rd ten of the forum, it's not hard to see why. the production really is pretty good, it has a lo-fi feel i don't think i've heard from anywhere before. you're right, the lyricism is impressive. brilliantly paints a picture of a young man growing up surrounded by gangs and crime. honestly not as good as to pimp a butterfly, but that's not to discredit nas, everyone should at least try illmatic
Personally I feel, Illmatic > TPAB
Illmatic has the lyircs, production, flow and TPAB does too, but i feel Nas is just a better lyricist than Kendrick...maybe its' just a personal opinion, I feel Illmatic is a 10 and TPAB is a 9.5
Also, they're kinda hard to compare objectively....like Kendrick has so much of like modern hip-hop influence to it with, especially production wise..
Idk, but comparing them lyrically, I feel Nas is just the bettet lyricist..but again, this is just my opinion
yeah, i have to agree that simply comparing the albums is a lot harder than it sounds, and it really does just go down to opinions. i prefer tpab because the production just clicks in a way illmatic doesn't (both productions are great tho), not talking about the lyrics because both nas and kendrick have that down to a science and it's really hard to compare
