How to become “That Guy”?

In a negotiation, never make the first offer.
When entrusted with a secret, keep it. This helps build trust, and trust grants access to information.
Play with passion, or don’t play at all. This is a rule of life; no one remembers or respects an also-ran.
Try writing your own eulogy, and never stop revising it.
Eat lunch with the new kid.
After writing an angry email, read it carefully, then delete it.
Manners make the man.
Give credit and take the blame (unless it’ll turn out incredibly bad for you).
Stand up to bullies and protect those who are bullied (unless it’ll turn out bad for you).
Write down your dreams.
Be confident and humble at the same time. AKA don’t boast.
If you ever doubt yourself or your abilities, refuse to be ordinary!
Basically turns you into someone who is seen by others as trustworthy, hardworking, friendly, composed and principled. Hard to be all of those things, but you’ll gradually pick them up. You won’t see immediate improvement, but eventually you’ll get respect. The strategy of prestige is a pretty good one (the dual strategy theory).
