Lel so only training and sparring for you?

Fighting in the ring is not real world experience. It is training like any other. It is performed under a set of agreed upon rules that limit the damage that can be done to either opponent. I’ve trained and trained with some very successful MMA fighters. One of my peers is undefeated. If you’ve ever watched a KO where the blow is a braced elbow with a knee to the head, and watched the head deform in slow motion, you’ll understand why I didn’t get into a cage. I have enough brain damage as it is, coupled with a fusion at c5-6, and an artificial disc at c6-7.

Hmm name/s?

I did sparring but then my sister kicked me in the head while we did it and I just fell on my butt because my head hurt and that makes no sensexD but question how to defend from a blow to the head

  • Head Movement
  • Body Movement
  • Footwork
  • Blocking; eg with your guard, hands etc
  • etc

WowThisIsWeird

I always block the wrong way XD

like when I see a roundhouse kick coming I'm like "block block block block" and do the block you do for a punch and get hit anyway lol

I do karate online though so i don't actually get kicked in the class but when i practice sparring with my friends i do XD

A straight and a cross are two different punches

UnclePeet
A cross is a boxing term for a punch that crosses over the lead arm
UnclePeet
It’s not the same punch

Listen to jack dempsey not mr miyagi
UnclePeet
I mean I was only corrected on this by Hector Roca at Gleason boxing gym

He only trained Arturo Gatti and Iran Barkley…he prob doesn’t know they’re the same punch
UnclePeet
It’s a boxing term I never knew the difference either

They accomplish the same goal yes but a car and a motorcycle also accomplish the same goal

A cross has to “cross” the opponents lead hand that’s where it gets it’s name.

A straight has no such requirement. Jack Dempsey explained this all.

Hang on, I’ll link something
UnclePeet
Here’s one he uses Dempsey as an example

This December I will be testing for my black belt
UnclePeet
Not really because it isn’t even the same punch mechanically look at the difference in shoulders with a straight as opposed to a cross
UnclePeet
Look at the difference in his shoulders/posture

UnclePeet
The mechanic is def different
UnclePeet
Nothing.

No offense but you seem a bit insecure about this all of a sudden.

Someone has mentioned them being the same punch, they simply aren’t. Not in name nor mechanic nor purpose of use.

This is not a personal attack.
UnclePeet
No it doesn’t help because the mechanic is different

If I called a front kick a hook punch I’d be a moron

I’m a pink belt 2nd Dan ......don’t ask me anything ! 🙀
