How to find x in this sort of division problem example

100 divided by ( 1 2/3 times x) = 50.

Just an example not sure if it is a good example or not though. How to find x? These problems are tripping me up

Make the equation so that the terms with are on one side and then just divide by the number multiplied by x.

For example an easier equation:

50 times x - 10 = 90

50 times x = 100

(50)(x) = 100

(50)(x)/50 = 100/50

x = 2

Sorry if that's confusing I'm not math tutor xD

Um, how did you get 90 in the first place

For the first equation

If there is a number divided or multiplied by x and gives you a number bring the number to the other side and do the calculation

For example

76+x=100

so as 76 is a positive no ,when you bring it to the other side it changes to negative

like this

x=100-76

therefore x=24

Hope it helped happy.png

You do the same with fractions and decimals

Which grade are you anyway ?

Uh oh, I got a different answer! surprise.png

I’ve not done these problems in years, so hopefully this helps.

I am in sixth

Finding x will be easy for you

Just frame the equation properly and you will get the answer

How'd you get 50 in the second equation?

It was just an example I made up xD

I just plugged in my answer to see if I got the correct result (50). Take my answer with a grain of salt though, I’ve not done these in a long time.

Here’s a better explanation than mine:

100/(5/3 x)=50

50(5/3 x)=100

(250/3)x=100

x=100/(250/3)

x=300/250=6/5

You said =50

Oh right sorry

You made an mistake when you flipped the fraction. (5/3)x is 5x/3 so flipped would be 3/(5x) not (3/5)x

Try to seperate the X on one side and the numbers on another side
