Is it possible to prove anything?

but u can still apply science to philosophy

like atheists and christians for example

BartolomeusRex

Could you please elaborate your example a bit?

D_D_inactive

what u mean?an example of applying science to philosophy?

uwinagain

Think he means Evolution versus Creation.

BartolomeusRex

Whats with atheists and christians?

uwinagain

Well Athiests believe in Evolution and Christians believe that God made the world in six days and had a rest on the seventh! Undecided

uwinagain

With Darwin myself, but I would never rule out God himself being in charge of the process! Laughing

i am a catastrophist any of you?

BartolomeusRex

The problem with this example is that religion is more or less based on belief and doesn't really equal philosophy, which is in terms of proving things more similar to mathematics.

D_D_inactive

it is too, my bro takes a class called christian worldview PHILOSOPHY

D_D_inactive

christianity and evolution are 2 philosophys

uwinagain

I think "philosophy" amounts to  peoples reasoned thinking about anything they can experience or imagine they could.

Nothing like mathematics.

A belief could loosely be termed a philosophy? Undecided

BartolomeusRex

Evolution is certaintly not philosophy (it is a scientific theory) while christanity has its own philosophy, but in itself it is only religion.

uwinagain

And the world as it is..

is a catastrophy Gamecock.

sadly Frown

Wikipedia explains it pretty nicely.

well dude why would you go with Darwin?

evolution had too many weaknesses that i can point out to destroy darwins theory

BartolomeusRex

Another evolution thread is something that this forum definitely doesn't need.

Dont like the way you say "only a religion though" though Barto-rex.

That is like saying having a belief in a religion is sub-normal in some way?

Condescending anyway..

In a world full of billions of people, lots of them have a faith..

and a few of those are scientist's by the way!

I am not religious myself.

I never said it is sub-normal, I just said it is not the same as philosophy.
