What's your opinion of this legendary band? favorite CD?  overrated? any comments welcome

Etienne

So many good Zeppelin songs, but here's a few ones anyway that might give you a slight overview: Stairway to Heaven (classic among classics), Achilles' Last Stand, Rock 'n Roll, Black Dog, Immigrant Song, Friends, Good Times Bad Times, Dazed and Confused, Moby Dick, Over the Hills and Far Away, Misty Mountain Hop, the Battle for Evermore,...

But try to stay in the stuff they did with Bonham. Post Bonham stuff is practically worthless.

Check out Led Zeppelin III.

What more can be said? Other than the Beatles, Led Zeppelin is arguably the greatest band of all-time.

fischer you are right on target as usual.  As the Beatles left us in 1970 there came Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin isn't my cup of tea, I suppose.  They're good.  I enjoy most of their music.  They don't make my top 200, though.

Led Zeppelin is a good group, but in my opinion groups like Jethro Tull or Van Der Graaf Generator are more interesting.

While I can see your point about Jethro Tull (I like them a lot, better or not than Led Zep, I won't lose my time trying to figure out), but Van der Graaf, while I enjoy them, I think are a bit over the top in their progressive element. They are definitly good but I don't think they should come up in any list as the best. Also I don't think they are even comparable to Led Zep in their style...

Awesome band. I've read they're playing a gig in Britain somewhere, Manchester i think, with Jason Bonham on drums. The stadium holds 60,000ish and tickets are going to be sold on a lottery at i think something like £150 each. It's been reported in several papers that they've had 20,000,000 applicants!!

Can you redirect me to the topic please?Maybe the topic wasn't in the off-topic? Because I often post in the off-topic forum about stuff unrelated to chess. And what is your point exactly saying this? Still frustrated about the fact that i think the pawn is hotter than you? Tongue out

I take it you don't like rap music.  Smile

I agree though. The 70's included lots of strange things, but the music from that era is priceless.
