I just think SA there are deeper truths. Troy accepts my view there is no self. I'm exploring what that means

You're too quick. Don't enter into concepts or what is logical. Look at your brain: the answer is there. What is behind a mask? One realizes they wanted to impress others so they can get a better job. Upon that realization the mask drops. Then what happens?

That's too quick. The self obviously exists, because all these feelings of hurt, fear and anger are real. They comprise the self, which is thus real, contrary to what Buddha said, to name but one.
Psychologists also are saying that it exists. What are they missing, though?

I've heard & read in various books.. {probably, the ones that you & 'troy' skip over}.. That we're All part of the 'Divine'..{or 'Nature' in your terminology}.. and that _od, {or 'Nature'}, if Not quite adequate to describing, an actual Super Entity/personality - Created us, to fill the Gap, in experiencing 'wonderment'.. in a vicarious sense.
Of course, if you view 'Nature'.. taken, as a whole - As a fairly undefined sentient phenomena, {taken as a whole} - Then, anyone trying to further make sense of it All.. Would naturally ask - Why does 'Nature' need to experience, 'wonderment'? - D-o-h.. Because, the Force, Behind 'Nature'.. I dare say - Isn't what you & 'troy'.. {presently}, Think-it-is!
What's More, the Force, {what you pass off, as "just 'energy' "}, is No more, essentially inaminate, or unaware, when considered, as a Whole - Than, 'the Force' in "Star Wars"! - Actually, you're comprehending, something, Magnitudes Bigger, in scope-and-meaning!
.. So, if Either of us, has formed a 'Deeper' conclusion.. No offense.. But, it doesn't reside, with your own {present} understanding! ..{'imho' & many others, of course}.

More concepts, more speculation.
The world of concepts is quite poor, narrow. Conclusions have no depth, they're quite shallow. All of them, not some shallow and some deep: that whole dimension is shallow.
Projecting, imagining--in a nutshell, no beauty there.

'troy'.. How is your Own 'take' on {existential}, 'Meaning'.. Not, a 'packaged' 'wait-and-see' Conclusion!?
Even, 'Christendom' gives place, to the 'wait-and-see' approach.. In, 'St. Paul's - "For eye hath not seen.. Nor ear heard.. the 'glories' ..etc.
Just because, you profess, that 'Meaning' cannot be known, in this dimension.. {and, I'm Not referring to 'Full Meaning'}.. which Most of us agree upon, {if to, widely varying degrees}.. Your 'take' is Still an opinion/'projection'.. If, of 'another feather'! ..D-o-h ?!
Eliminate the 'waiting' and you'll have the 'seeing'!
