I just stumbled onto one of those strange and hidden connections I mentioned. Scientists think they may have figured out how birds "see" the Earth's magnetic field, which they use during migration. It turns out that a change in a magnetic field can cause a quantum reaction in electrons within photoreceptor cells. If you had told an ornithologist twenty years ago that birds migrate using quantum mechanics they would have thought you were crazy.

sciencealert.com article  (yes, I actually check that site daily)

You see, people like thomas edison and most of the great scientists didn't become so great because of school. They became great because they learned it by themselves.  Also, I have online school and there is limited social time. I'm in middle school so that's why. I like school and I have perfect A's on my report card, its not like I'm failing school, but my point is that school is generalizing everyone too much.

Unfortunately school systems accross the globe are just that - systems. It's a catch all which aims to get every student to a decent level of understanding of the key concepts and information, usually decided by governments in the form of curriculums. It also measures the students ability to learn in the form of examinations which again are something of a catch all. There is not the resources in a state system to cater to each individual kid the exact form and variety of teaching which suits them best. Once you get through this there is more freedom at college/University (at a large financial cost usually) but to get there you have to suck it up and get those grades you need (which it sounds like you are doing to be fair) It's also decent preparation for working life - bad news...unless you are extremely fortunate you will be like most guys working a job. Some aspects you will enjoy, others will bore you to tears, others will frustrate you, others you will consider a waste of time etc etc. Again you have to suck it up because that's how you earn your money and get the shot at promotions and pay rises or get the great references that help you get a different and better job. And that girl you banged in college who is now your wife? She's pregnant with your first child so you better play the game and earn the $$$!

Your brain is a toolbox. Schooling puts tools into that toolbox. You may never need some of those tools but it never hurts to have them. A person can never have too many tools.

Yeah but people might get more tools in the toolbox if they had more time to pursue what they want instead of learning complex science which you will probably not use in the rest of your life.

You're allowed to learn things outside of school. You said people like Edison and other great scientists gained their knowledge outside of school. You can do the same. If it's important to you you'll find the time. They did.

Yes, you are right. The thing is, I feel like school also wastes some time. Thomas Edison would be even greater if he didn't have to go to school. Look at Albert Einstein. He got kicked out of school. He is one of the greatest scientists in history.

Yeah you can

your tools will weigh you down in an event of flood and you'll drown

moral of the story: ditch all your tools in the even of a flood

Don't carry tools...become 'the tool'.
