So long as 3D remains an option. I have found 3D chess applications to be very difficult to manage visually. 2D is by far clearer, and remains my absolute preference.

I prefer 3D board.
If you were about to play in a 3D board, you can play live chesspiece that mives like the one in Harry Potter.
2D is better
it will de better if players is given choice to chose either 2D or 3D.
