There's just too much great music. Never heard of Shaver. Catching up here, but I was thinking, as a joke, that Mick and Willie need to get together and here I find Keith and Willie and a bunch of other great musicians. Won't let me post the vid. Not the best sound, but there are a several other vids that look a little better.

So, Eddy and Billy Joe Shaver lived in Austin. Billy Joe was from Corsicana, south of Dallas, and is immensely popular in Texas. They mention Gruene Hall, a legendary music hall, in his Wiki Bio. Worth reading. I don't know a lot about the hard core Country music scene, only the Rock Country crossovers. I'm pretty sure the Shavers played at the Broken Spoke regularly, another legendary Austin music hall. It is now literally surrounded by towering condos on all sides. We're not sure how long the Spoke can hold out. RIP Eddy, Billy Joe, Austin Bars.

Great post. Instruments like the Hurdy-gurdy don't get the respect they deserve.

It's an amazing piece of music composed by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. Mesmerizing instrumentals & vocals. Page had never played the mandolin before, he picked up John Paul Jones's mandolin and they wrote up the chords and song in one sitting! The hurdy gurdy (rarely seen) interesting to watch & hear and the 8 string mandolin, 12 string & 6 string guitars one piece instrument Page plays is unique. It looks like the mandolin has it's own sound box, and the two guitars share another, a monster instrument.

I had never heard of WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance), looked it up. Thanks, I will look for music videos from that festival.

Johnny Cash played a concert at Folsom prison that I've seen.

BB King tremendous respect for the man and his talent. I miss so many of the guitar greats gone now, BB King, Tom Petty, JJ Cale (#33), Prince....too many gone.
