Like flipping through Netflix: "Where did all of these horrible movies even come from?"
Media access has followed Moore's law with everything else carried in 1s and 0s - the sum total of what was once (even thankfully) pushed to the margins is now right at everyone's fingertips.

(Is there a language filter on this site?)
You know the joke about the little girl digging through the pile of ****?
"With all this ****, there's gotta be a pony in here somewhere!"

We get the musicianship of a band like Tool, but usually have to dig through a couple hundred Five Finger Death Punches to get to it.
Nature of the digital beast.

Check out EveryNoise.com - best shortcut for each person's search, and helps no matter what your tastes.
And, bonus, if you're a Beatles fan ('cause who isn't?) The Claypool Lennon Delirium.

I blame the major studios for what I consider the poor overall quality of today's music. When rock and roll hit the scene the major studios didn't know what to do with it. There were many new artists pushing the musical envelope in all sorts of directions. The studios were publishing all kinds of stuff trying to find the next Beatles and make tons of money. Over time they got tired of taking risks. They realized it could be more profitable to take a mediocre artist and promote them into popularity than keep publishing music that may or may not become popular.

I'm not saying there isn't wonderful music out there being created by talented artists, some of whom are major stars. I just feel that the music industry as a whole has figured out how to make their money without taking as many risks as they used to.

No problem. Always happy to help someone find what they want to hear :-)

Other than EveryNoise - if you use a streaming service - construct stations from artists or songs, and then see if the algorithm matches it to anything good you hadn't heard before.

PS Actually thought of you a couple nights ago watching season 2 of 'The Boys'. The Deep did shrooms at a Goo Goo Dolls show 😆
